The owner and founder of This is Cape Town has been working in community development for over 20 years from soup kitchens to setting up mobile libraries to community vegetable gardens to building and renovating of structures.
The main goal is to assist our underprivileged while embedding life-skills, self-esteem and appreciation for one another.
Paula often appears in the media for her contribution to building a better South Africa. One of the projects she is actively involved in received an award from ETV for South African Heroes. Her motto is that one is always only one decision away from a completely different life. She deeply believes that the simplest and subtlest intervention can fundamentally transform a person’s life.

This is Cape Town is the outdoor program service provider for Salesian Institute Youth Projects. Salesian works in youth education to empower vulnerable children and youth. Their focus is youth education and skills development. Support is offered in terms of life skills and vocational training.
This is Cape Town has set up many mobile libraries, community vegetable gardens and soup kitchens around the Western Cape. Once set up with the assistance of the community the project is handed over to the community to manage and run, with This is Cape Town merely offering support in terms of funding and introducing projects to the youth for opportunities for community service.
This is Cape Town is involved with Habitat for Humanity which seeks to improve the lives of South Africans in need of improved shelter by improving access to housing.
This is Cape Town is a listed service provider for Reach for a Dream. The purpose of Reach for a Dream is to offer memorable experiences to children with life-threatening illnesses.
This is Cape Town is one of the outdoor program service providers for Durbanville Children's Home. Durbanville Children's Home was opened in 1883 and is a safe haven for 144 children. Children come to the home from environments of neglect, poverty, crime, violence, drug abuse and other abusive situations.
This is Cape Town assists with outdoor activities to help with the rehabilitation of emotionally traumatised children through the benefits of nature's healing powers.
